If the horses have called to you, if you have a heart-felt desire to
make a difference in the world of the horse, let Anna and the entire
Reach Out to Horses® Team help you turn that dream into a reality.

Whether your goal is to develop solid, well-rounded skills in your own private horsemanship or to become a respected expert in the equine industry, the Reach Out to Horses® Holistic Horsemanship Certification Course is for you.

About the Holistic Horsemanship Modular Certification Course

This comprehensive, modular program is designed for those who have a genuine desire to learn trust-based, gentle, non-invasive communication methods. It is the perfect starting point for equine enthusiasts, potential horse guardians, instructors, trainers, managers, those working in the equine industry, and those seeking to become professional trainers and clinicians.

This program has been carefully designed for more than a decade to give you the solid foundation crucial to the success in any discipline of horsemanship.  You will learn how to give your horse a voice, to understand the horse’s language, and converse using not only body language (that’s just the beginning) but through many different methods.

Over the course of 6 weekends (roughly once per month), you will participate in one of the most intensive courses in horsemanship on the planet; learning the exclusive Reach Out to Horses® Gentle Trust-Based Methodologies.  This is not simply another technique to make your horse subservient or “do what it is told.”  This unique program will show you how to give your horse a voice, develop a true relationship with your horse, and create a partnership that serves both horse and human.

Take Your Skills To a Whole New Level Through the Art of Holistic Horsemanship.

In addition to the many tools and techniques you will explore, you will also learn the intricate and effective language of Equus. From body language to energy manipulation and control, to interspecies communication; you will be introduced to an entire language and way of communicating that will truly allow you relate and connect with your horse in ways you might have never even thought possible!

Through herd observations and exercises you will learn how to

  • read your horse
  • behave and respond to them appropriately
  • gain respect and maintain ground manners
  • help them to overcome natural fears and concerns

We will examine ways to approach horses and respond to them correctly in their own environment of a stall, paddock or turn-out.  You will experience the impact your eyes have and learn how effective they can be to draw a horse to you, gain their attention, alter their speed or invoke a response.  You will also overcome catching difficulties, as you discover what motivates your horse, whilst creating an environment where they want to be with you, want to lower their head into the halter and later choose to give their defenses up by lifting their feet and even trotting into the trailer through freedom of choice!

As you work with your horse’s mind, you will learn the use of a pressure halter, a way in which to introduce them to obstacles and to allow confidence to build for both of you during groundwork.  You will begin to recognize the way horses learn and the benefits this has for your later mount.  Free-schooling through body language and ground-driving techniques will be other areas we touch upon.  This practice will enhance your timing and pressure/release skills while allowing you to learn to trust your instinct – all of which will lead to harmony between you and your four-legged partner.

Topics Covered Include:  Liberty Work, Round-Penning, Character and Learning Style Assessment, T.LC. Techniques, Ground-Driving, Leading, Loading, Catching, Team-Penning, Problem-Solving, Spook-Busting – and that’s just scratching the surface!

This is your chance to join a team of experts who are lifting the Natural Horsemanship Industry up to the next level with new revolutionary communication principles.

What Makes a Good Horseman?  Practice, Practice, Practice.

And that's exactly what you'll get!  During your 8 months of training, students will also complete a home study program of approximately 20 case studies that they will bring to their sessions for review.  This coursework will be reviewed by Anna and or her highly skilled and qualified team to evaluate and enable each student to progress as much as possible.  With the motto: “Perfect practice makes perfect” in mind, this allows students to ask questions and discuss their obstacles and challenges.

The Final Piece of the Puzzle

During your training you will have the opportunity to gentle a number of horses & refine your skills in all areas.  The horses may vary in age & breed, they may have different environmental backgrounds & history.  It will be your task to discover their needs, replace their fears and concerns with a bright and happy future.

You will be guided to learn how to:

  • Socialize & approach horses
  • Gentle them to touch
  • Teach them to give to pressure, lead, overcome obstacles & load
  • Overcome catching issues
  • Enhance your “Reaching Out”
  • De-sensitize and accustom them to unusual objects, touch & sound
  • Begin to address problem solving techniques
  • ….and much more

We will review all your areas of difficulty, do exercises to develop feel, rhythm and timing and enhance your intuition.   All leading to the final weekend of Presentations and Evaluations of case studies, culminating with a final written exam.

Once all requirements are completed, you will feel confident to go out into the world, certificate in hand, and begin applying true, gentle, trust-based horsemanship to your horses and your life.

Certificates of Completion of the Reach Out to Horses® Holistic Horsemanship Introductory Course will be given to those completing all Six Sessions of the Modular Course
