How are these methodologies different? Why do we call them the next generation of horsemanship? Simple.

The ROTH Methodology is not a training program. The foundations of ROTH, as designed by Equine Behaviorist, Anna Twinney, are communication; the true language of all horses.

The program you will discover comes from the horses. Anna won't show you a training method that you can teach to your horse. She will reveal the communication that your horse can teach to you, and how you can use that language to not only train your horse for any discipline, but also to create a relationship with your horse.

By giving your horse a real voice, understanding them and being with them as individuals, you will uncover, not a horse, but an individual and a partner.

The language that horses speak amongst themselves, every day, is subtle and comprehensive. They are having a conversation all the time that you are most likely not even aware of. Part I - “De-Mystify the Round Pen": Round pen work isn't "chasing a horse around a pen"! When used correctly, the round pen can be extremely effective in communicating, training and learning about your horse. You will experience a language that goes beyond body gestures, and create a lexicon that can be used in and out of the Round Pen.

Obstacle Course at Liberty: Language and Life Lessons
We aren't going to waste any time. On the first day you are "jumping into the deep end" of equine communication! The obstacle course is one of the most effective tools in horsemanship and you will join your equine partner at liberty. You will learn how to communicate effectively with your horse, truly gaining the partnership and connection needed for anything you do with your horse. It is a wonderful way to take your partnership to a much deeper level and have some fun. It is also a true test of partnership. It's a time to strip you of all paraphernalia and connect through unspoken words and explore your horses’ true language!

Anna developed the course over 15 years ago, and since then thousands of her students from all over the world have worked with the Obstacle Course for a myriad of uses. You will learn how to apply this safe and effective training approach to solve all sorts of problems and determine your horse's learning style. From preparing horses for the trail, engaging school and therapeutic riding horses, spook-busting, through to establishing a communication system with performance horses and honoring the needs of the retirees, Anna will show you how to read the subtleties of your horse's body language and direct your horse on the ground.

But that is just the beginning.

The technical aspects of learning and speaking the horses' language and the ability to communicate, control, and train our horses at liberty pales in comparison to the lessons the horses have to teach us about ourselves.

When speaking their language on their terms, our true natures, desires, fears... in short, our true selves appear. The reasons we aren't achieving our goals with our horses (and maybe even our lives) are revealed and the answers are laid before us. This is but a small example of what the horses have to teach us. Obstacle Course In Hand & Intuitive Riding
Hard to believe that you squeezed all that in Day 1! But we are going to jump right back into it. On day 2 you will "jump into the deep end" of equine communication!

The obstacle course is one of the most effective tools in horsemanship. You will learn how to communicate effectively with your horse, truly gaining the partnership and connection needed for anything you do with your horse. It is a wonderful way to take your partnership to a much deeper level and have a whole lotta fun in the process. It is also a true test of partnership. Work with your horse to clarify your communication and connect through unspoken words, explore your horses’ true language and translate all of it to your hand!

Anna developed the course almost 20 years ago, and since then thousands of her students from all over the world have worked with the Obstacle Course for a myriad of uses.

You will learn how to apply this safe and effective training approach to solve all sorts of problems and determine your horse's learning style.
